Error Uploading Documents [Windchill 10.0]

Hello,

I'm having some trouble uploading documents to Windchill 10.0, using the RWDC portal at https://rwdc.ptc.com.

We have found the current capabilities within the "Meetings" section of the Navigator in Windchill to be lacking, so I decided to create a folder for all meeting notes in the "Folders" section of the Navigator.

(Note you can click on the images to expand them if they do not display fully within the thread dimensions. Please notify me if you cannot fully see the images.)

Within the Meeting Notes folder is notes from two previous meetings, which I had uploaded previously with no problems.

When I attempt to create a new document using the "New Document" button the dialog appears and I filled it out (what is believe is) correctly.

I assume the "Set Attachments" page is not needed as I have only one file to upload. Therefore I click "Finish" in hopes that it will create the document space and upload the file to the Windchill server; however it throws what looks like a Java error.

I have tried using no number sign and/or spaces in the Name section of the Attributes area, but to no avail. Any idea what might be going on here? This problem is severely impacting our ability to collaborate and share important documents and notes within Windchill.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Ben,

Thank you for your question. The issues you are experiencing is a result of the browser you are using or the version of browser. Chrome is not supported.

You should not have had the issue with IE. However IE 9 is not supported.

In the end, I prefer Firefox myself.......as I find it has improved performance, but that is my opinion.

Hope this helps.

As an extra note; when attempting to upload the file using Firefox instead of Google Chrome the process seemed to work. Could this be a problem with the browser? Previously this error occurred on Google Chrome 15.0.874.121 and Internet Explorer 8, 9, and I believe 6.

Mark,

Thanks for the quick reply! As Firefox seems to work the best with Windchill for me I will just use that for my work with it from now on. You may however want to consider supporting Chrome, it's one of the fastest growing browsers on the market right now.

Anyhow, thanks for the help. You might see me again around here.

Hi Ben,

Here are the support specs for WC 10.0.

As you can see Chrome is supported. However I still prefer Firefox.

Thanks,

Mark
