Solving for a Launch Angle Given a Known Velocity

At last week's RoboTalk (http://bit.ly/ypMhAz )   one of the guests asked whether it was possible to use a Mathcad Solve Block to the angle at which to position the launcher on your robot if you know the initial velocity of the ball leaving the launch device. I played around with some worksheets that I created after watching some launcher prototypes on Youtube to create the attached worksheet.

Teams should be able to study and revise this worksheet to develop a worksheet that can be used to help save time by using predictive engineering to determine critical values of design parameters before building and testing the robot.

If you have been to one of PTC's Hands-on-Workshops this past year, using this worksheet should be easy. If you need some help, you can email me at -

Good luck!

Chris
