How to install a new license file Creo 10 locked node
I am a single use, so I do the sys. admin, but I'm not really that savy with it. I have received my new license, but I don't have a clue as to how to load them. I've searched high and low on PTC support, and here PTC community to no avail. I've look through the files on my PC and nothing stands out as to how to load license files. I'm running Windows 11.
Please help, I'm dead in the water.

Going back to the reseller was the best way. They knew better than anyone how to install the license. Thanks for the time and effort!

First, if you have purchased your license from someone, that company is the best place to go for help with installing the software.
Once one has purchased a subsciption for a license of Creo, you should have some sort of info about it.
When you've received verification e-mails or whatever indicating that all is good with the licensing, keep the various numbers and account info they provided you handy.
You have to download the Creo Software. I get my downloads directly from PTC at the following URL. Your URL may differ if you're in a different country, etc.

Once you've downloaded the software, which is in a ZIP file format, the installation software programs are included in there. A typical listing (this one is for Creo 9.0.9.0) looks like this:

To install the license server you need to run "install_license_server.exe". Do this first.
Once your license server is running, use the "setup.exe" program to install Creo.
If you have already got Creo running and just need to update the license to the latest, that's another story.
Here are some instructions I put together for updating the license file. We have to do this every year because licenses are all subscription based.
- Copy the new license file to your desktop. You're going to be modifying it based upon the contents of the currently active license file.
- Traverse the directory tree on your computer to the current license file. It will be in a directory that is of the format:
C:\Program Files\PTC\FLEXnet Admin License Server\licensing\license.dat - Open the current license file (license.dat), and verify that the PTC Host ID and other info in the comments (lines that begin with "#") agree with the new license file. If all is okay, copy the two lines that start with "SERVER" and "DAEMON". These lines should look something like:
SERVER <YOUR COMPUTER> PTC_HOSTID=XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX 7788
DAEMON ptc_d "C:\Program Files\PTC\FLEXnet Admin License Server\x86e_win64\obj\ptc_d.exe" "C:\Program Files\PTC\FLEXnet Admin License Server\licensing\ptc.opt"
The SERVER line will have the name of your computer and a valid HOSTID in place of the XX-XX-... stuff.
These two lines tell the licensing software what computer is being used to host the license, and the paths to the software it needs to run. - Open the new license file on the desktop, and replace the two "SERVER" and "DAEMON" lines with the ones copied from the current license file.
- Rename the current license file in the Program Files\PTC\FLEX... directory to "license-old.dat".
This is done as a precaution in case something was not done correctly, so things can be reverted back to the previous state.
The license.dat file is only used by the FlexLM software when it is started up. It reads this file and uses its contents to configure the licensing service. Thus, we can rename and replace it, even though the license server is currently running. - Rename the new license file on the desktop to "license.dat" and move it to the Program File\PTC\FLEX... directory.
- Run the "Services" program to bring up the list of all running software services.
- Scroll down to the "lmadmin_ptc" service.
- Using the right mouse button, STOP that service.
- In the Services program, right click on the "lmadmin_ptc" entry and hit "Start".
- The lmadmin_ptc program should now have a status of "Running".
- Verify that things are okay by running "ptcstatus" on one of the computers in the network, or by trying to run Creo.
- If all is well, you are done.

If the following 2 lines are below these lines, then you have a floating license.
SERVER __HOSTNAME__ PTC_HOSTID=..... 7788
DAEMON ptc_d __PTCD_PATH__
If these 2 lines do not exist then you have locked license.
