Parametric.exe *32

Parametric.exe *32

I'm curious about something and wondered if anybody had an answer to this. I am running Creo 2.0 M040 on a M6600 Precision Dell Laptop, windows 7 64bit.
When I launch Creo 2.0 and look in the Task Manager I see a "parametric.exe *32". Is Creo running 32bit or what does this represent?

Thanks in advance,

Yes, it would seem that it is a 32 bit program.

Parametric.exe is 32 bit, but xtop.exe (the actual Pro/e process) is 64 bit.

(WF5, Creo 1, and Creo 2 all running at the same time.)

Anybody got any thoughts on what the parametric.exe process is. Just curious.

Most likely proe.exe (err parametric.exe) was born when PTC developers couldn't make a dos bat file
do what they were/are doing with a unix csh file.

Startup sequence is like this:

* Unix
1. run <proe_install_dir>/bin/proe
o csh that sets up the environment base on the platform
2. this directly calls $prodir/$mc/obj/pro $*
* Windows
1. run <proe_install_dir>/bin/proe.bat
o a bat file that does not do any setup
2. this calls <proe_install_dir>/bin/proe.exe <proe_install_dir>/bin/proe.psf
o so notice the proe.exe gets passed the proe.psf which contains "environment" variables
o this proe.exe is most likely doing what the proe csh unix script does
3. this calls <proe_install_dir>/<mach_type>/obj/xtop with appropriate enviroment and arguments

So on the Unix side the actual Pro/Engineer process is <proe_install_dir>/<mach_type>/obj/pro and on
the Windows side the actual Pro/Engineer process is PROE_INSTALL_DIR>/<mach_type>/obj/xtop.exe
