Several people sent me the config to ensure it was "graphics_opengl"
which I had. Paul hit the nail on the head with a clue to get the
appropriate driver for the SpaceTraveler. Apparently, this item has been
superseded by the SpaceNavigator and when you load the drivers,
3DConnexion tells you that later versions and updates are available.
Apparently the secret is NOT to load these later versions as these cause
the flickering on the screen. Of course, you have to UNINSTALL
3DConnexion drivers first before loading the older version, something I
didn't find out until afterwards (but then I do not profess to be an IT
guru) so it took me a little longer to get back up and running.
