Hi!

which Creo Versions are you using? Do you stay on long term Track 4.0 -> 7.0 or are you on 5.0 or 6.0 although they only offer 1 year of support?

We are on 4.0 and thinking about waiting for 7.0.

Does PTC offer any statistics from their performance advisor?

The ability to move to another version is a function of the number of seats of the install. In short, the larger you are the slower you are to move.

Most large corporations are going with the "enterprise" releases (every 3 years). Often times there is regression testing that is specific to those companies that needs to happen to ensure that production doesn't come to a grinding halt.

I think a number of large organizations are NOT planning to follow the "enterprise" model. Too many issues with PTC being unable to backport some new functionality, vendors jumping to the in between versions meaning we couldn't open their files, paying big bucks on maintenance but not being able to access all new functionality.

How you mean? Features introduced in Creo 5.0 but not available in 4.0? (Like Simulate live? Is it really available in Creo 4.0 M090? didn’t have time to test yet.)

That’s the usual Creo-way that you cannot open files in older versions.

With Testing, Training and deployment it’s quite a big effort to switch Creo major version.

We are in Creo 4.0 and we are planning to have a Creo 6.0 offer for specifics users that remain in Inventor and we want to include them in our standard CAD offer, however we have the same concern about the support for the minor updates and we are still under discussion about to move our 2600 designers to Creo 6.0 or wait until Creo 7.0.
