AMT loosing track when object is flipped

Hi Everyone,

I am using Advance Model Target in Vuforia Studio but whenever I flipped the object it looses its tracking and the orientation of digital & physical model gets disturbed.

Has anyone experience the same scenario & can anyone explain me why AMT behaves in this manner.

Note: I have set a small area as an AMT since the model is large.

Thanks & Best Regards,

Aditya Gupta

Hello @Aditya1702 ,

regarding your question for me is not clear what " I flipped the object " in your application case means. So I belive  some change of the real object e.g. rotation , movement etc.- or is that the attempt to have view from different angle or position to  the object . when there is a picture or video possibly that could help. I believe that AMT will have no issue so far the movement or rotation is small and smooth - so far I think it will work but  , I believe that when we have change like a flipp that we can expect that the tracking will be lost and possible new alignment of the AMT is required

I think also your note saying "small area as AMT since model is large" - I believe here the geometry is meant- so that AMT is only a small area/volume part of a large model. That possible is not a good approach but possibly you could provide  more details about that constellation.

- here , I think,  the important point  is how to separate the model used as AMT :

  • mean that AMT is an extra modelWidget which refer only to the model what should be scanned
  • we have clear defined separation between the AMT model and the other 3D geometry /which is not part of the target /means clear boundaries between these area

Hi @RolandRaytchev ,

Yes, by flipping I meant rotation of the object (180 degree rotation)

Also can you suggest me how to make best use of AMT when the physical model is a large geometry, or Do I need to give the whole geometry as AMT.

Thank you for your response.

  • possibly you can try to use a simple and small model as AMT to test and try the same action there to see if the behaviour is reproducible. If yes that means that probably follow the current  functionality. If only reproducible with your model constelation then the specific target need to be checked more detailed
  • for the best practices for Modeltargets generation and usage I could refer to the Vuforia Development side

https://developer.vuforia.com/library/vuforia-engine/images-and-objects/model-targets/best-practices/model-targets-supported-objects-cad-model-best-practices/

https://developer.vuforia.com/library/vuforia-engine/images-and-objects/model-targets/advanced-model-targets/advanced-model-target-databases/

and

https://developer.vuforia.com/library/vuforia-engine/images-and-objects/model-targets/using-3d-scans/comparison-object-tracking-methods/?h=model+target

the link above there are general tips  for usage but in particular cases depending on the gemerty we could be faced with different challenges specific for the particular model /means level of details, size etc
