Automatically creating model Items

My question is whether or not it is possible to automatically create a model-item of each part of the assembly when I create a model?

As of now, the modelItems are supposed to be created manually. Can you please be more specific about "automatic"?

Yes,

What I mean is that upon assigning a resource to a model I would want it to create a model item from each part in the assembly.

You understood the question correctly and apparently this functionality does not exist.
