Customize/Create multilevel Components List report

I'm looking to either customize the OOTB  multilevel Components List report such that it includes assemblies, subassemblies, and 'components', or to create a new report that can do this

I looked into Query Builder and it cannot create a recursive BOM and have searched all the forums but all I've found is a feature request for this. 

Any help would be appreciated.
