Version: Windchill 12.1

Use Case: Transfer CAD/Part structure from one windchill installation to another

Description:

Is there any method or a best practice to transfer a CAD assembly and its associated parts to a different windchill server? Historical information isnt required. Essentially need to delivery a duplicate CAD model and part structure to another windchill installation.

That’s precisely what “Packages” are intended for.

Easy to use too.

Hint: make sure your Cad worker is running when you zip the package delivery.

Thanks! Looks like we dont have the appropriate license though. I can only select the Export option.

If you can’t use Packages I’d suggest opening the assembly in the native cad system, Creo Parametric for example.

Backup the assembly to disk.

Open assembly in a session linked to your other Windchill instance, Save, set folder(s), Check in.

That would get it there too.
