I want to manage color variant of product(car).tell me the possible workaround top down and bottom up approaches.

Creating the new part with Inheritance link would help for Color variant
Explore the multi owner link which got introduced
With this you can have multiple wtparts linked to one cad file with owner associations
Geometry in visualization will not change but the attributes would be different for wtparts
