Managing software in PDMLink

I'm wondering how you guys are managing softwares in PDMLink.

We are going more and more in a mix of mechanical and electronical devices.

Managing the mechanical components in PDMLink is straightforward, but becomes a bit more complex with the software that comes with them.

I am thinking in making WTDOC subtypes, but I'm stuck in managing the revisions, the link between the source and the exe, ...

Any feedback from your experiences would really be valuable for me.

We're not yet doing this, but are discussing / planning.
These are standard icons from PTC, applied to WTPart and WTDoc sub types.

Windchill 10 or better is Windchill 10.1 using embedded software module. Software is a part in a bill of materials. Do NOT use a WTDocument for it. WTDocument is good for adding a document work instruction for the software and how to put the software into the electronic component.

PTC just bought MKS. Integrity and Jira or currently ClearCase are all options. Recommend you speak to PTC sales rep for more info.
