Version: Windchill 13.1

Use Case: Windchill 13.1.2.0—Intermittent UI Unresponsive / Freezing After Upgrade

Description:

Hello everyone,

We recently upgraded our Windchill system from WC 12.0.2 to WC 13.1.2.0. Since the upgrade, we have experienced intermittent UI unresponsiveness/freezing issues.

  • While working in Windchill, the UI occasionally becomes unresponsive.

  • The browser shows “Page is not responding”.

  • After a few minutes, the UI resumes and returns to normal on its own.

  • In some cases, the UI remains unresponsive and we need to restart Windchill services as a temporary workaround

  • Occurs on both Chrome and Edge (latest supported versions).

  • Happens for multiple users, not limited to a single client machine.

Steps We’ve Tried:

  • Cleared browser cache / tried Incognito mode

  1. Has anyone else experienced intermittent UI freezing issues after upgrading to WC 13.1.2.0?

  2. Are there any known SPR/CPS fixes related to UI responsiveness?

  3. What additional troubleshooting steps or configurations should we check?

  4. Any recommended tuning or patch suggestions for better UI stability?

Hi @BJ_8933016,

Is there anything relevant in the Method Server logs?

Does this issue occur for a single user or for all users simultaneously?

Have you checked whether this could be related to memory utilization?

Recommend starting here:

You should also watch the DB for long running transactions and ensure its properly tuned and statistics run. You need to determine if the delay is on the app side or the database.

You could check if there is a custom table view active, change the view back to system default, recreate any view that reproduces the issue

Hi,

Have you looked at the Apache logs?

Is there anything in the Operating systems Event Viewer?

Have a look at the Avg Disk Queue Length..
