Windchill/Oracle Crashes Every night!
Hello Colleagues,
Intralink crashes every single night between 8-10 pm.
I have been working with PTC technical support for over a week and we can't chase it down. I am guessing something is getting filled up?
In the morning the server manager is still running, but neither the FG or BG method servers, and "windchilll start" doesn't work, but if I reboot, and type it, then it works.....it seems it's only a matter of time that it will not come back up at all?
Anyone experience this before or have any ideas?
Thanks,
David T. Francis

I've seen A LOT of this. Typically it's a bad backup script that ends up orphaning some java processes. Do you have a nightly backup that gets run?
Do you see any additional java processes still running? A rebooting fixing things (closing EVERYTHING and restarting) points to something like this.

Hi David,
Do you have some nightly hot/cold back up scheduled? Do you see any
relevant information in the logs? As long as SM is up, it will
monitor/ping the presence of FG and BG and it will launch new FG/BG
whenever a dead process is reported. So a close analysis of Windchill logs
will throw some light on this.
Thanks,
