Question

Color Map - Preloading?

A few revs ago, I forget when, PTC added a terrific default color map to Pro/E. This little guy has dozens of useful colors already defined and named in it. But...every time you go to use it, you have to sit while it loads the little sample color globes, one at a time, until the one you want is loaded. Does anyone know of a config option or something that lets Pro/E use some of my computer's memory to, like, populate this table so I don't have to sit and let it churn when I want to use it?

Does this make sense? Here's a picture of what I'm talking about. Note the last three, white globes next to the purple one that have yet to generate.

Thanks in advance,
Tim

Jeff,

Do you have Productview Professional? There is a toolkit that allows the
embedded Productview file to show in MS Word and PowerPoint.

We use the PowerPoint toolkit for presentations because you can pan, zoom,
hide, explode..... right in your slide presentation. The toolkit is very
simple to use. The computer that you are viewing MS Word document or
PowerPoint needs to at least have Productview Express loaded.

I want to thank you all for the quick replies, which varied from using
Tiff files, pdf and using screen capture software.

The best solution similar to the CGM process came from a suggestion to use
an encapsulated postscript file.

I created a printer to print to postscript and save to a file. Then,
while saving the file, change the suffix to eps from ps.

You can then import that file using the "insert - picture" from Word.

Here is the printer pcf file:

plotter colorpostsc
button_name Printer for Word
button_help Print to file for import into Office Applications.
pen_table_file c:\ptc\proeWildfire4\text\plot_config\postscript_Word.pnt
interface_quality 3 default
raster_plot_dpi 600
plot_destination file
plot_drawing_format no
plot_sheets current

And the postscript_Word.pnt file:

pen 1 thickness 0.006 in; color 0.0 0.0 0.0; drawing_color
pen 2 thickness 0.004 in; color 0.0 0.0 0.0; letter_color
pen 3 thickness 0.004 in; color 0.0 0.0 0.0; dimmed_color
pen 4 thickness 0.003 in; color 0.0 0.0 0.0;
pen 5 thickness 0.003 in; color 0.0 0.0 0.0;
pen 6 thickness 0.003 in; color 0.0 0.0 0.0;
pen 7 thickness 0.003 in; color 0.0 0.0 0.0;
