Are you mirroring my question there http://communities.ptc.com/docs/DOC-3496 ?

What's the problem with this? You've used continued fractions yourself quite a lot in the past.

Mathcad does not look HOW you have written your LHS expression and tries to make an as simplified continued fraction (smallest possible power of x) as possible, I think.
