Community UI Improvement Cash Available

Hi, Champions (+ Friends),

 

Sorry this board has been SO dead!!!  Someone suggested I remove it, but I was like NO WAY!  I need this space to talk to Champions and other PTC Community enthusiasts about stuff related to the structure and design of our own PTC Community!  

 

So, here is a question for you.  It is that time of year again that I need to dump some maintenance hours on Khoros platform improvements.  It's really incremental, but if you had community member experience improvements to make where/how would you want to see it spent?  

 

I have already had some requests from the product management team, but it is more "backend stuff" so I need some customer perspective on what "front end" stuff you would like to see refreshed.

    Fix my videos so they will play.  Tomorrow will be three weeks since I posted them and they still can't be viewed.

    (These were created directly out of Creo Parametric 6.0 and I have no control over the video encoding it uses.)

    Good thought @TomU  An Email from me to Khoros Support on March 9th:

     

    Three weeks for one of our community members (particularly one of our Community Champions aka SuperUsers) to have one of their posts have a big black box on their community is not really acceptable.

     

    I want the support team to continue to make his mpg file an “acceptable” file because we need this as videos are directly captured from our Creo product in this format.

     

    We had this same issue with Mathcad files which took over a year to get resolved.

    I am assuming the mpg issue with TomU’s posts will require the same amount of effort.

     

    Can you please confirm that most likely this file will not be able to be viewed within the next week?  I will ask TomU to convert his file (which is usually does) to an MP4 so it is not a big black box on the community.  The current state does not add value to the community conversation.

    Message Back From Khoros:

     

    For the immediate issue, I agree that he should convert to MP4 to get the video posted. We will absolutely keep working on this one to ensure that everything works in attaching MPGs. 

     

    I don't have a firm ETA at this time unfortunately. I would guess it probably won't be ready this week, but once I know more I will let you know.

    So, @TomU , if you send me a new video file in a different format.  I am happy to upload a new video while we wait for this mpg file issue being addressed.  I am so glad you raised it!

    I am not familiar with the full set of features and capabilities of the platform, so I'll put a few ideas to consider.

    • Mobile App
    • Calendars
    • Polls
    • More frequent updates to the right side "Announcements" (often stale)
    • PTC broadcast channels (what's new, announcements, security issues, new releases/patches, events, etc.)

    • More frequent updates to the right side "Announcements" (often stale)  Yes, updates to side-banners seem to fall to the bottom of priorities.  Newsflash:  Some of you knew I worked in Marketing...well now Customer Success is the owner of Community so now we have another person dedicated to some of that UI /Banner updates.  You should see improvement.  Also, more of our RUG leaders are dedicated to giving PTC notice now on upcoming RUGs so we should have more content to share under Customer Networking section.
    • PTC broadcast channels (what's new, announcements, security issues, new releases/patches, events, etc.) Yes!!!  I was on a Community Content Strategy meeting just this week.  Again, look for more improvements in this area.

    How about we fix the width of the 'Insert/edit media' dialog so it dynamically fits the width of the browser window?

    This is a great one!  I am wondering if UI updates are made to our "whitespace" if this is going to help this issue.
