Forum upgrade: Reply button and @mention

@olivierlp

Please don't allow the 'Notify Moderator' button to shift over while replying.  Maybe keep the 'Reply' button visible but shown 'pressed' or grayed out.  Twice now I've hit reply and then cancelled because I thought I had inadvertently hit the 'Notify Moderator' button.

Also, something is wrong with @ references.  As soon as I add the second letter of your name, all names disappear.  See this second video.

@TomU  Following up on the @mention part.

The system actually works as designed. Repeating what you showed above, but step by step. From another topic as an example:

I reply and call @Werner_E  out. I start typing @. The system automatically lists the existing topic participants. At that point, I can mouse over Werner_E and select, or use the keyboard arrow down.

But I keep going and type W, the system still thinks that I am interested in the list of existing participants.

By the way, same thing if I type a letter that does no exist in the 4 names listed:

Back to my W, I keep typing with e. That's when the system assumes that because I didn't already choose someone from the list, I want someone else. This starts the query to the membership. As I keep typing  W  e  r  n  e  r  _   the query will narrow down the list on choices.

Interesting.  I didn't realize that adding a character after the @ wasn't further filtering the pop-up list.  The list that pops up is often only a small fraction of the people who are actively participating in that specific discussion and it would be nice to be able to easily filter (or scroll) without resorting to a full system-wide search.

Since a full system-wide search is triggered with two characters, why can't I locate you this way?  Is there some setting that is preventing you from showing up in @ searches?

Now I am curious ðŸ˜€   not sure about the inner workings but we'll inquire. Here's what I see bit by bit...

Like you, I see this. No one has the "full" user name "ol"

    olivierlp_0-1628021625818.png

Whereas, there is a "TO", for ex

    Then:

    Finally...

    olivierlp_3-1628021663632.png

The number of participants in topics... It is actually a metrics that I'd like to track to see the variation from one segment to another, etc. Not a big priority in the big scheme of things, but still.

Would you have handy an example of a topic with lots of participants?
