Related Item for Test Result

Hello,

I am trying to create an item that can be used as a "Related Item" in the Test Result Editor. I use the chain link to create a related item. When I try to save it I get the error "Could not save item: Editing FVA: Relationship field References is empty". Could anyone explain this or point me to documentation that explains it? I haven't been able to find anything anywhere on this error.
