Change avatar after thing created

So after I have created several things I would like to change the avatar.  I can go into the thing properties, point the avatar to a new location, and have the avatar displaying in the section when I am in edit mode of the thing.  However, if I go back to my mashup and pull the data for my thing, the old avatar is still in place.  Am I missing something? Is this a bug?  I was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue.  Also, I changed the thing template avatar to the same new image.  Thanks for the help!
