How to persist button selection on static mashups?

Hi,

We have buttons menu on static pages with navigation widget linked to each button,on click of button calls navigation of respective static mashup.

Problem is when we click on button entire page is getting refreshed(url getting changed as per new mashup), here we want to persist the selected button to be highlight after page get refreshed.

Could anyone help us to achieve this?
