Launching a mashup by using a URL passed from another program

We have an equipment reservation system.  We would be able to launch a thingworx mashup that displays the status of a single piece of equipment. Here is the statement from the intern on the issue

I am trying to have the parameter values, that can are sent through the URL of a Thingworx Mashup, either be saved in the properties of the Thing Template then sent to where the jar file will run or sent directly where the jar file will run.

Are either of these possible, and if so, then how?

If that is possible, is having the parameter values sent through the URL of where the jar file will run and have it open a Mashup a better solution.
