Thingworx 8.5.0: How to use the new valuedisplay widget

Hi all,

We have used the previous valuedisplay widget allot in our projects. We are currently working on upgrading a project to the new mashups in 8.5.0.

We have had some trouble with getting the same functionality for the new valuedisplay widget as we currently have with the old valuedisplay widget. We used to render allot of images with the widget using state definitions to define what image should be displayed (the image being set up in the styles used in the state definitions).

This functionality doesn't seem to work as it did before. Is it planned to be fixed or does it work as intended? How can we then recreate the same functionality as we had before?

Kind regards,

Jasper

You may need to adjust the ValueMaxHeight property to make it big enough to display your image. There is a minor bug that makes the ValueMaxHeight property not available in some conditions. If you uncheck MulitLine property, and then re0check MultiLine property, the ValueMaxHeight property will be shown.

State based formatting of the new Value Display widget(themeable value display widget) is not currently supported. This feature is being considered by Product Management but as of now there is no timeline available.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, it still does not work.

Maybe it will help you if I explain the problem better. So in previous versions there was a property called 'ValueFormat', which gives you a button to go to Renderer and State. The screen looks like this and gives you the options 'Fixed Style' or 'State-based Formatting':

valuedisplay_Old.PNG

Now, in 8.5 in the property 'ValueFormat', you get a button called 'Renderer', which brings you to this screen:

valuedisplay_New.PNG

So state based formatting is not possible anymore on this widget. Is this intended? How should we from now on approach state based formatting?

I understood the problem initially itself. Couple of customers have reported this as well. This feature has just not been implemented yet but is being considered. As of now, if you require state based formatting unfortunately you will have to continue to use the legacy value display widget itself.
