Best Practices for PLC + ThingWorx??

Hi All, looking to connect PLC to ThingWorx and i was wondering  what could be the best practices. Should i explore Kepware solution + ThingWorx or any suggestion on connect TWX and PLC directly? Anybody who already worked with real PLC connectivity that can give me feedback?
