ProductPoint and a SharePoint Farm

Is there a way to have a WPP server connect to a SharePoint Site in a server farm? Our IT department wants to control all SharePoint sites and keep them on the Global farm.

If I do this is it hard to connect and does it cause any delays?

Looks like ProductPoint can work with a farm. If I understand correctly - it just has to be on top of the entire farm. I need to be able to attach to a site in the farm.

I guess I will have to have my ProductPoint server run the SharePoint Service. Of course SQL will be on a different server.
