Forum upgrade: Reply

Hello,

We are preparing a series of changes and tweaks on the platform, to be released in the coming weeks / months… Some of them, we do ourselves; others, we have to outsource for development. More on this as we move forward. Some of what is mentioned here ( https://community.ptc.com/t5/PTC-Community-Refresh/Requirements-for-Submitting-a-Lithium-Case-Portal-Ticket/td-p/566741/jump-to/first-unread-message ) is taken into account.

I wanted to give you a heads up that this coming Friday July 9th, we will update the forum feature on the Community. Two changes to anticipate, one is the subject of this post. Once live, please let us know what you think.

For now, hitting the reply button moves the user to a different page. Some of you may use the quick reply feature: the user stays in the original page but with no WYSIWYG editor. This upgrade will combine the regular reply and the quick reply. See below. We hope this will make replies easier for everyone.

Something is wrong with the threading after this change.  New replies are now being placed on top of previous replies (placed further up the page).  This is backwards and breaks the threading flow.  See https://community.ptc.com/t5/3D-Part-Assembly-Design/Creo-quot-Isocline-quot-curve/m-p/738164#M120157 for an example.  Notice how my newer reply is now above the older reply.

    Hi Tom

It is displaying in the correct order for me. Could you have changed it with the new drop down? That affects more than the page you are on and changes your setting for the whole community.

However, as I dig a little deeper I see some of the default settings for the community have been changed with regards to threading. I will investigate further and let you know what I find. Let me know if you are able to fix it with the drop down.

I haven't touched that dropdown.  It's currently showing 'Threaded'.

Oddly enough, now when I view the page the replies are in the expected order.  Not sure if you changed something or if it was only displaying out of order after replying but before refreshing the page.  Maybe I'll add a second reply to this comment in a minute to see what happens...
