We are having a really tough problem with fragments (file entities) --I really hope someone out there can help.Backgound- 1 long file containing many commands (this is a Command Reference document)- Size of file was causing merges (through ClearCase) to be very slow- We decided to break into fragments -- 1 fragment per command.- Did this by selecting the ch2 element and Entity > Create FileFragment from Selection- Added all fragments to source control- So far so good, and we noticed our merge times were much improvedProblem- Now, from time to time, when someone is editing a fragment (likeadding a Comment, for example), the fragment suddenly "thinks" it's acomplete document, and adds a doc element, metadata, and a TOC andreports (of course) context errors.- This seems to happen when the following sequence occurs: Editoropens fragment, makes a change, saves and closes the fragment, reopensthe fragment, and then tries to make another change.- The issue means that the container file (th

Hi Ed-- You could do it that way, by using the "modify_tag"document callback toattach a dlgitem callback to the "OK" button on the modify attributesdialog. You could also use the AOM to add an event listener to the document forthe DOMAttrModified event. That would let you take some action in theevent of a particular element having a particular attribute value set,no matter how the change is made (via Modify Attributes dialog or viascript). I think the examples in the customizer's guide should also be availablein the HTML portion of the Help Center, as well as the PDF. When we install arbortext editor we have Documentum connect option available to connect to the webtop and similarly we can have PDMlink connection through arbortext editor. So my concern is can we have these two options available in arbortext editor at the same time? i.e. both menus should be present on menubar when we open arbortext editor.Is it possible??Please have a look at the attached mockup.ThanksNitu

Hi All,We're using Arbortext Editor 6.0 (F0000) with a number of customisations, including the 'Save' button. Some of our users are reporting that after they've clicked on 'Save' regularly whilst working for a couple of hours they close Arbortext and then find that none of their changes have been saved. The save location is a networked folder that has two physical locations with replication between them. I'm assured that this is working correctly.I would like to know how I can add a log file (local, per user) that I can write to from our custom ACL code so ican get an audit trail of what happens when a user clicks on 'Save'.Any suggestions much appreciated.Thanks in advance,Keith

Hopefully this will be a simple question...Does anyone know offhand what causes the quick tag insert to becomeavailable? In our old DTDs with pretty complex FOSIs, hitting the <enter>key brings up any context-specific tags.I have created a few new DTDs, but can only seem to get tags inserted bygoing to Insert -> Markup then selecting the tag. The DTD itself isbeing recognized, and only appropriate tags are available in context.Furthermore, in Tools->Preferences->Edit, I do have "Show quick tags onenter" selected.I created a very very simple FOSI (by hand) to ensure tags are indentedwith line breaks, and a very simple DCF to handle hidden tags and restrictcharacter substitution. I am building an SGML document type using the NAVSEAC2 DTD Revision F.The document type compiles fine but in the view dropdown menu "Tables"is grayed out. So I can't switch from table markup viewing the tablelayout. In my DCF I have selected cals and tablesupport is on. Is there a way to incorporate dimension reportated from artwork in macro? I explain... I have many custom frame inside STD Isodraw frame with text inside in middle of the lowest line frame. I would like to take this text and move to the top line frame. The probleme i have, is all my custom frame have different size,the only thing who does not change is the lowest line frame and text. So i try do create a macro to select line of side frame just by selecting rectangle selection, and report dimension of this line to move text (title) under lower top frame line, by removing 0.25in from this reported dimension (text dimension 2X).Thanks!

Adepters:I'd like to ensure that these settings are always enforced: inlineediting=on expandinclusions=onI've put the corresponding set commands in the instance.acl startup file. Oddly, only the "inlineediting" setting is honored and overrides the "off" setting in the preferences. The "expandinclusions" setting is ignored. I've also added the settings to a custom "init" folder ACL file. But, I wouldn't expect that to work as it's processed before the preferences file (see help 5716). Clearly, the instance.acl file is processed after the preferences and seems to work for one setting, but not the other.Any other ideas of how to forcibly override a specific user's preference setting? Perhaps it has to occur before the document instance starts processing, which leaves me only with the user startup file. I don't want to go there as we don't want to set these for all editor sessions.Thanks,Dave

The question of how to ensure the last page of a FOSI-formatted document is a verso page keeps coming up, so I decided to add it to my book. However, supporting this in a FOSI using system-func to call a function at the end of the document to determine if the last page number is odd or even may or may not work, depending on the DTD structure, FOSI coding, and software version.An alternative that should always work is to use a batch process that utilizes ACL scripting and a FOSI-generated external file. I've attached PDF of the relevant pages from my book.ACL experts: Why is edit -current needed here? It seems like the force option should be all that's needed, but edit -current is necessary for the format/preview/print at the end to add the verso page when $addpage=yes. We have a VB6 COM DLL that contains a dialog that we currently call from editor 5.2 & 6.0 using ACL. We want to convert the VB6 code to a .NET 3.5 COM object. Will the ACL code continue to work with this converted DLL?

We have many thousand illustrations without any title visible on illustration to identify them, so is there a way to run batch export with macro that take existing illustrations and add is own file name inside at specific place. AllHas anyone loaded the subject DTD into the subject versions of Architect? Iam having a problem validating the DTD in an SGML Document Type. Adepters:We're using AE 5.4 patch M120. Our publishing environment uses XIncludes to reference objects in a map file (not DITA). So, if you check out a map and all of its children and open it in AE 5.4, you can edit all of the XIncluded objects that are expanded inline. However, one - and only one - user cannot edit these XIncluded objects as the editor either does not see them as writable or refuses to lock them for editing. He can open the objects individually outside of the map, so we know they're writable after the checkout (besides looking at their properties).Anyone have any idea what AE is looking at to decide that these objects are read-only? We've uninstalled and reinstalled AE just in case something was corrupt. The data is on his local D drive that he has full access to. Since we can examine each individual object and verify that it is not read-only, I'm at a loss as to what's different on his machine (which is XP SP3).Dave

Hi,In Styler (6.0 M040 with APP) the SFE for IndexLocators_MainIndexhas a description saying "This element wraps the page numbers or otherlocators of an index entry".I was wondering what the significance of "other locators" was,since I'm trying to find a way to use non-page number index"locators", such as clause numbers.There doesn't seem to be any way to specify that you want anindex item to use something other than page numbers.Thanks,Richard Steadman

Hi,More work on migrating our 5.3 m110 authoring environments to 6.0 m010. Ijust got this:On opening an XML instance in one of my environments, the Arbortext EditorDebug Messages window opens and says: agettext: Msgid not found in message file: Warning conrule literalcontains a reference to an entity not declared in the FOSI. Literal is: "%s". Conrule will becompiled under the assumption that the reference will resolve using the instance subsetand DTD at composition time.Of course I can't find the string %s anywhere in my FOSI let alone in aconrule.Did anyone run into this or something similar?Editor opens the FOSI without complaint and check completeness doesn't turnup any problems.-- Paul Nagai

Not sure if it was a windows, java, or acrobat update, but one of the ones today changed my file associations and icons (which I previously had all of my XML / SGML file associations and icons pointing to Arbortext). XML opened some microsoft xml edit window instead.So, I changed (at least) my XML file association back to Arbortext, but the icon is still some generic 'page' or something.My question is, short of reinstalling Arbortext, (happily running 6.0 build M010 with NO - repeat NO issues or problems), is there any other way or trick to reassociate the XML related files (and the icons) back to the Arbortext software family? I loathe the thought of having to reinstall the Arbortext, as (to me, a basic user in a standalone shop) that's just asking for aggravation.Thoughts? Thanks for reading.Bob WilliamsBristol RI, US

Hello all,This may be a tall order, but I have a question on column width measurement in Styler 6.0.We have a client that is upgraded from 5.3 to 6.0. All-in-all, the upgrade has had few issues. However, we have one issue where items are wrapping in tables in 6.0 where they did not in 5.3. Does anyone have a theory as to what may be causing the differences in column width?The stylesheet uses CALS tables. The widths are relative (ie. 0.88*). I know it is a jump from 5.3 to 6.0. Has anyone else seen similar?

Folks, I've been doing a fair amount of research on this and it seems I have one problem that may keep me in the DTD world a bit longer. Our DTD has several large referenced files containing general ENTITY replacement text (if anyone has ever parsed the 40051 DTD with 'dtgen' they have encountered those files. You normally will get several 'litlen' errors.) This replacement text contains markup, references to other editable ENTITIES and the text is generic required stuff the authors really don't need to redo for every TM. My question is this (and I think I already know the answer BUT thought I'd toss it out for verification), can I call those files from a schema? My searches to date have said NO. 😞If I cannot call those files, then converting to a schema won't work. Many thanks.Lynn
