Adepters:In our primary publishing environment, we’re using XML source and generating PDFs using PE 5.3 and the direct-to-PDF process. I know exactly how to control the PDF bookmarks using the atidmd namespace and markup in the FOSI and XML source file. Now, I’m needing to generate a PDF from a legacy SGML book and so far I’m able to use the direct-to-PDF process to generate a nice PDF. However, I’m getting the default PDF bookmark setup wherein the bookmark TOC is not displayed at startup and when displayed, everything is expanded. Is it possible to use the atidmd markup in an SGML document sent to PE? I’ve dug into the Arbortext help to no avail. I would think there would need to be an SGML DTD fragment for that markup. Or are there other tricks?Any help or advice is appreciated.Dave HintzSiemens

The Arbortext help says it can be done using commands like magbase 1000 in Arbortext's pubview.cf file or by making a docname.vcf in the doctypes directory of the document you want to customize the window for. I have tried everything I can think of (editing the local Arbortext pubview.cf, editing the PE Server's pubview.cf, making the docname.vcf files everywhere I can think of, all to no avail. Has anyone ever done this and had it work or should I contact PTC support? Thanks for any help anyone can give.

I have a English DITA map that I have had translated into multiple languages. What are some ways in Arbortext and PDMLink that I can associate the translated DITA maps and topics with the English?

We have some issues where the style sheet can fit the heading and three lines of text on the bottom of the page instead of pushing it to the next page so the topic makes more sense. How and where can I adjust this?Bryon

We are moving to importing dxf files into Isodraw for line drawings. Is there a way that I can specify that a text layer in the dxf gets imported onto a layer labeled text in my IsoDraw template? or does this need to be done via a macro after the dxf has been placed in the file?ThanksBryon

Hello everyone,I'm new with ACL, so, I'm not sure if it's possible to copy/paste fragment without let the dialog "specify top level element" appear?My example is that I have:<chapter> <section> <child>1...</child> </section> <section> <child>2...</child> </section> <copied> .... </copied></chapter>Currently if I copy the first two sections and paste it into <copied></copied>, it will show a "Specify top level element" dialog which asks for the top level element. What I would like to have is that it allows to copy/paste 2 sections (without outermost element). Wondering if anyone has worked with images in XUI.Specifically, I have a listbox with a list of image titles, and whenclicked, I want them to show below in a little preview window.The problem I'm having is that my XUI is setup so that all of my toolsetsare contained within a <box>. Looking at the API, it seems that<imagegroup> needs to be a child of <window>, which seems odd.I also see <picturebox> that can take a ref, but I'm not sure if thatsomehow means I need to create the <imagegroup><image> on the main window(evidently hidden?), then reference it from the picturebox?I'm able to do this pretty easily within the editor window by modifying mydcf as follows:<graphic element="vectorimage" entity="entityref" filename="fileref"/">Then in the XML, I can insert a tag such as:<vectorimage db_id="1" fileref="<br"/>The main kicker is that the image is dynamically created by a service,based upon a passed-in ID. What are the plans, if any, for Arbortext technical presentations by PTC,partners, and customers? Last year there were none and the Serviceconference where the only Arbortext material was presented, was nottechnical.

I am tring to profile a procgroup, the profiles window comes up, but when I add the element it says could not apply profile since the affected element does not support a "product" attribute. How do I correct this? Where do I need to look? Is it in stlyer or is that a settign that I need to modify in the profiling.pcf. I am not aware that changes where made to allow other elements to be profiled. ThanksBryon

Many moons ago, there was some discussion about troubleshooting performance issues, and someone had posted a command line string to fire up the Arbortext trace and set the level of debugging, but I can't find it anywhere.Anyone have that written down so I can be smart enough to write it down?Also, I've noticed I haven't seen any adepters traffic since Thursday?Thanks,-Jason

Hello allI would like to know the way in Arbortext Styler how to put elements into one page.I made 8 element contents all with "hazardstatement" in Arbortext Editor and when its published in PDF, each hazardstatement shows up on different pages. (In total, 8 pages of hazardstatements with a lot of unnecessary blank space.)All those 8 element contents in one same page to show it concisely with a stylesheet.I hope to hear your advice.Kind regards,Tomomi

I'm trying to do a macro that draws a triangle using create line and append line, and want the completed triangle to have black fill.I can't see a way to switch fill on in a macro (and trun it off again afterwards).Is this one of those functions that never made it to macros?

Hello,I am trying to compare two strings, page_start.txt and page_end.txt in order to build an LEP using page ranges and want to output the single page thus avoiding "P1 to P1....."However, I am struggling getting <specval attname="page_start.txt" attloc="#FOSI" attval="#EQ#page_end.txt"> to work.Is the syntax correct here, or if it is, are there any alternative methods for comparing strings within a FOSI ?ThanksAndy

I've currently upgraded from Arbortext version 5.3 to Arbortext 6.0 M100 and I'm having some problems with porting over our custom javascript/ACL.One of these customizations is a simple function run when the document is first loaded that checks a couple attributes of the root note:var actDoc = Application.activeDocument;var docRoot = actDoc.getDocumentElement();var rootName = "" + docRoot.getTagName();Right now, docRoot is returning null which breaks the getTagName() call. Other exceptions in some of our other custom ACL also say:Wrapped com.arbortext.epic.AclException: [A12653] The "detail" command is illegal for a text file.All our custom code is running on 5.3 without hiccup. Are there any caveats/details I need to know about with custom javascript/ACL when upgrading from such an old version? I know Arbortext 5.3 used Rhino as a Javascript interpreter, did anything change there in the updaets maybe? I'm really lost here and would appreciate any input.

No othre action taken.Double-clicking XML files causes the following error to display:[A14123] Existing window is busy or has an active dialog box. Do you wantto start another Arbortext Editor session?We do not because will not have the necessary environment settings presentin the batch file. Has anyone seen this behavior?
