Compare Rev A versus Rev B of BOM Structure

How can I compare the Revision A and Revision B of a BOM Structure in Windchill 10.

Structure Report Does not have option to choose earlier Revision... (Just Baseline, Latest, Promotion Notice)

How this question came to be:


1. You start a Change Notice

2. The Revision A Released of the EndItem Assembly is the Affected Object

3. The Revision B WIP of the EndItem Assembly is the Resulting Object

4. You Send it to a Reviewer; The Reviewer wants to run a comparison report between the Revisions... so they can see what exactly has changed; And confirm the Designer has added all the changed objects to the Resulting List.

Would we be required to add the step of making a Baseline prior to Releasing? Which sounds tedious.... Or are we missing what we should select?

Same need but back up a few steps...


1. You start a change Request (proposing but not yet making the change) - using the compare tools somehow???

2. All who need to approve the proposed change - using the compare tools somehow???

3. As stated below, including reviewing the change after it has been made and is in WIP
We are in a strictly-regulated environment - no changes are made until they have been proposed, discussed, reviewed, approved. Our primary issue with using Windchill change management is how to handle the redlines / markups / compare tools. Users should be able to use them somehow to propose a change, and others to approve it.

You need some form of config spec on Rev A such as a baseline or effectivity to use to compare to the Rev B structure.

There are some ways to compare using rev a latest and rev b latest but in that case you will not necessarily get the proper version you want.

    We have an add on module for BOM Compare built for R9.1. Attached document shows few screen shots and usage.

    This can be ported to R10. If this is something you consider as one of the viable solutions, please let us know.
