PTC is hosting a webinar in early September about using templates in PTC Mathcad Prime. We want to promote how thoughtful template use saves users time and are great for efficiency. We’ll be going into quite a bit more detail than the basics of putting your company logo in the header. This month’s challenge is about tautochrone curves and isochronous curves. They are very similar. Both involve placing an object on the curve and allowing it to slide without friction. With a tautochrone, an object placed at any point on the curve will take the same time to slide to the bottom. With isochronous curves, objects allowed to slide from any part of the curve will have the same period of oscillation. You can think of the tautochrone as “half” of the isochronous curve, as it is only concerned with how long it takes the object to reach the bottom.In this scenario, the “top” of the tautochrone curve is at a height of 10 meters on the left side. The end point is at ( 0, 0 ). (The “top” of the isochronous curve on the other side is 10 meters on the right side.) Design a curve such that an object placed at any point on the curve will take the same time to slide without friction to the end point under the effect of uniform gravity. We would like to transfer our Mathcad 14.0 installation to a new hardware due to a hardware replacement. Is there any advice about how to get an updated license file?
I have code that I have written in C using the toolkit on Creo Parametric 12.4.3.0. It tries to connect to Creo using ProEngineerConnect(), and it works fine if Creo is up. When Creo is not running it returns a PRO_TK_E_NOT_FOUND value, which is expected. If I have the call to ProEngineerConnect in a for-loop my executable dies after the third try when Creo is not running. Here is the call:iStatus = ProEngineerConnect("",NULL,NULL,"",PRO_B_TRUE,10U,&bRandom,&hSession);This code worked just fine using Creo 10, but is failing under Creo 12. I am using VS 2022.
I have a part with a helical sweep that I need to machine. I would like it to place the tool in such a way as to follow a continuing loop from the outside edge until it reaches the bottom of the groove. This is a R.325 with 30 degree lead ins and I will be using a 1/2” ball. My initial thought was cutline, but since there really is no 2nd cutline, it doesn’t work. The auto cutline doesn’t work either. Attached is a photo. You can see where one end of the helix starts, the other end looks the same, but is 180 degrees apart from the start. I’d really like to tackle this with a continuous 4 axis motion instead of what would be a simplier approach in using straight surface milling. I’d appreciate any ideas. Thank you!

Hello everyone,I am running Creo Parametric 11.0.5.0 Education on Windows 11 ARM inside Parallels Desktop 20.4 on an Apple Mac mini M4 Pro with 12 Cores and 24 GB of RAM for the Virtual Machine.After adding the following lines at the beginning of parametric.psfENV=PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE=AMD64ENV=PRO_MACHINE_TYPE=x86e_win64Creo starts and works correctly in Shaded mode. However, as soon as Shaded with Edges is enabled, severe graphical corruption appears. Hundreds of incorrect black lines are drawn between unrelated vertices. The surfaces themselves are rendered correctly.Interestingly, during the first second while the model is still loading, the edges are displayed correctly. The corruption only appears after the loading process has finished.Changing edge_display_quality from very_high to low only changes the edge quality but does not solve the issue.Larger assemblies also eventually crash with EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION.Trying the same on an older MacBook Air M1, Creo runs significan

Summary of the IssueCreo Parametric 13.4.0.0 is causing a catastrophic failure of the Windows graphics subsystem across every machine tested, including: University lab computers Instructor workstations Student laptops My personal workstation The failure is identical across all systems: initiating certain display operations causes a full backscreen eventObserved BehaviorAcross all affected machines: Entire display system blacks out All monitors reset No Creo traceback or crash log is generated System becomes unresponsive for several seconds Creo must be manually relaunched, unsaved work is lost. Crashes occur seemingly at random. This issue is present on my personal computer, laptop, university computers, instructor computers, and other student’s personal machines.

After a Wibdows 11 update some weeks ago, Microsoft Edge version 150 closes a few seconds after it is opened. This is not a problem for me normaly because I prefer to use Google Chrome. However Mathcad Prime seems to insist on using Edge.I have set Chrome as the default browser and then installed Prime 12.0.0.1 even though I use English as the Prime language. Still no good.Does anyone know how to get Mathcad Prime to use Chrome?Thanks for your help.

OK, a weird one..2 issues: 1st issue is that my Creo 9 has decided to open in a minimized state. Nothing changed on my end, except a recent windows update. Now I get a very small Creo window, when I used to get an almost maximized window. all settings are as they were the week before 2nd issue is that when I open a drawing, I get a blank sidebar, a 2nd blank ‘model tree’. There is nothing in it, and no top bar to close or anything. it’s just a blank ‘sidebar. And it covers content.. And it’s only with .DRW files.. The work-around is to close Creo, then restart it / open it again. Creo then starts up in a nearly full window, and teh blank sidebar is gone. any ideas?

PrimeConnect is also by request now a python library that connects python engineering applications with PTC Mathcad Prime. It allows python programs to generate editable Prime worksheets, and retrieve Mathcad calculated results as native python and numpy objects.What is still needed is a brief manual on how to use it, but it is simple.CheersTerry
