Cutting tool parameters

Does anybody have a "complete" listing of cutting tool parameters? I have some custom tools that I need to define. Other than the common "cutter_diam, length and tip" there is more parameters for angles etc... that I am looking for. I have a tool that is a side milling cutter that has a chamfer on the top as well as the bottom surfaces of the tool. I will be using both chamfers to drive this tool. I am on wf2.0.

Terry, I used to have one somewhere... :headscratch:



Well, this is what I did in the past to build one:



Go in the tool manager and create one dummy tool for each tool type you
want to know the pertinent parameters... in the TOOL_ID field (name)
give it a peculiar name (Ex: BULL_MILL) and save the tool in a XML
file...



Browse the contents of each XML file and you are going to see only the
parameters that are necessary for that particular tool type... this way
you know exactly which parameters are necessary and which are not...

Multiple Tip Tool Models


You can create a solid model with multiple tips and use it as a solid
multiple tip tool in the Tool Setup dialog box. NC Manufacturing uses
this solid model only for tool simulation and not for toolpath
computation or degouging.

You must note the following while creating a solid multiple tip tool:

o Multiple tip tools can have a minimum of 2 tips and maximum
of 8 tips.

o You must specify the number of tips in the NUM_OF_TIPS
parameter and MULTI_TIP as the TOOL_TYPE parameter.

o You must indicate each tool tip with a coordinate system
with the corresponding tip number, such as TIP1, TIP2, TIP3, and so on.

o You must also specify the tip diameter, tip angle, and tip
height for each tip, as the value for the TIPx_DIAMETER, TIPx_ANGLE,
TIPx_HEIGHT parameter names, respectively, where x is the tool tip
number.

o The height of the first tool tip must be zero.

o For solid multiple tip tools, Pro/ENGINEER does not check
whether the diameter of a given tool tip is greater than that of the
previous tool tip.
