Good Morning Everyone,

I'm looking to get a set of tutorials on Creo 2 started for our internal user group, and I was wondering if any of you have used video capture software with Creo. The only experience I had was with Adobe RoboDemo 5 (now Captivate) back in 2003, but it wouldn't capture the graphics region reliably. I figured I'd grab some video and use After Effects and Premier to get the video professional looking.

Is there anything out there that works? I figured ten years should count for some progress in this type of software. I'm currently using Windows 7.

Dave,

Try using Camtasia for everything. You will be surprised on how powerful
it is. I add all my effects on Camtasia, Video Editing, Fly outs, etc.
You can even add video from your webcam and create a quiz at the end of
the video for your users.

One editing tip. When you start to record and mess up in some way. Just
stay quiet for about 2 to 3 seconds and then continue. You will see the
pause in the audio stream and now where to edit your video. You can also
remove most of the "Umms" from your audio. With time you get better at
speaking without saying "Um" so much but you can just edit this out
anyway. Talk slower and practice your outline before recording.

Just some tips. 🙂

Probably too late for Dave but I always preferred BB Flashback - good for text boxes (I don't generally record a commentary) and like its auto upload to Youtube. It's what I use for the videos (http://www.youtube.com/user/ldscad/videos?view=1) for my teaching site (http://vleblog.lboro.ac.uk/cad/)

Camtasia does auto upload to Youtube. It uploads in 720p with the correct aspect ratio. It allows audio, text, graphics and even webcam video overlay. You can edit the video with many tools that enhance sound, add zoom in, remove background noise, and many more. It does all this with a super simply interface and amazing performance.



If you are looking for something that is free, then Camtasia Studio is not for you. Considering that Camtasia Studio is the gold standard for video capture and all the powerful features it comes with, the $299 price is a steal. It was easy for my company to approve the purchase when I created a demo video using Camtasia Studio to show them what you get for only $299.

I did wind up going with Camtasia. It has a lot of features that are like After Effects and Premier (which I already own) combined, though not quite as extensive. It will certainly get the job done.

Dave,

I am sure you will enjoy using it. With time my video recording skills
have improved but I am still learning things and picking up good tips from
others. It's fun making videos about things you enjoy. I try to make
mine short with a goal of 2 - 3 minutes with 5 minutes as the longest
video I am allowed to create. I found it's best to split them up in
parts to keep the video time down. Many people fall asleep while looking
at videos. 🙂
