Question
Improvement of Field Layout and Edit Page Usability in Codebeamer
Description:
In Codebeamer, although important fields such as Name and Description are configured to appear at the top of the layout, during item editing these fields are displayed at the bottom of the page. This creates usability challenges for end users.
Problem Statement:
- Users must scroll to the bottom of the page to enter mandatory fields like Name and Description.
- After filling in the details, users need to scroll back to the top to click the Save button.
- This repeated scrolling negatively impacts user experience and productivity.
- It can lead to user frustration, especially when working with long forms or multiple updates.
Proposed Enhancement:
Provide flexibility to customize the edit page layout by allowing:
- Reordering of system fields (e.g., Name, Description)
- Positioning of mandatory fields at the top of the page
- Consistent layout behavior between view and edit modes
- Optional placement of the Save action (e.g., sticky or bottom-aligned save button)
Expected Benefits:
- Improved usability and user experience
- Reduced scrolling effort and faster data entry
- Better alignment with user expectations
- Increased efficiency and user satisfaction
