Explicit Calculation referring to

Please see attached.

I want to show intermediate steps in my calculations, but when using the explicit function, the value I refer to shows up as the original symbolic value instead of the calculated value. This is a little confusing to explain, so please see the attached picture. Does anyone know of a good way to fix this?
