Pruning the Hedges - Deleting models from PDMLink

Repost of my blog:
remove this reference on the way back in (actual steps are a bit more
involved). So now, that reference is gone from the drawing. Great.
Another purge to remove old iterations.
Here is where I lose it. I've spent a considerable amount of time
removing ONE model. The iterations of those drawings refuse to purge.
Why? They are referenced by a Part iteration that is a branch point.
This is the iteration from which a new view version was created. This
cannot be purged unless that downstream view is totally deleted (listen
up MPMLink users). This means I would have to delete a view (our
released BOM), purge, recreate the view (recreate and rerelease that
BOM), then I can delete this single cad model. Or I have another
solution:
