Showing available revision strings

While setting a new revision using the New Revision option for an object, I would like to see all the available revisions. I see that I can see the next 10 in the sequence but we have a lot of revisions and sometimes the user does not know what strings are avaliable. Is there a preference or something that I am missing what will allow a user to see the entire revision string?
