Weird IE8 Behavior

There is a known issue with IE8 accessing Windchill on https in Windows 7 where you need to refresh the page on login. PTC has posted the issue to the solutions database, but it doesn't include the fix. Tech support knows about the issue and has a fix.

"Windchill PDMLink 9.1 hangs during login on a Windows 7 using Internet Explorer 8"

with:
SetEnvIf User-Agent ".*MSIE [1-5].*" \
nokeepalive ssl-unclean-shutdown \
downgrade-1.0 force-response-1.0


SetEnvIf User-Agent ".*MSIE [6-9].*" \
ssl-unclean-shutdown


2) Clear the SSL state and history from any IE broswer that has accessed the Windchill system.
In IE:
a) Click Tools -> Internet Options
b) Click Content Tab
c) Click the Clear SSL state button
d) Click the General tab
e) Click Delete button
f) Delete at least Temporary Internet files and cookies by click the check boxes and clicking the Delete button
g) Restart the browser and access Windchill


I have not seen this type of issue in Firefox or Chrome.
