Am I able to modify a Skeleton w/ out the Advanced Assembly eXtension?

I don't need to create Skeletons as I have an expert designer w/ the Advance Assembly Extension who will create it. But I want to be able to modify it. Move points and create planes etc. Is this possible or do I need to request my company purchases the AAE?

Pro/ASSEMBLY or AAX or equivalent is required to open skeleton models. Without one of these licenses you will not be able to edit skeletons.

that's not quite true.  without AAX, I can "edit" a skeleton, but I can't edit any of the feature definitions, add planes, etc...

 

So you would be able to change the size/aspect ratio of the rectangular layout in a skeleton model by editing the sketch dimensions, but you wouldn't be able to turn it into a triangular layout...

@pausob would I be able to move planes and coordinate systems created by my designer who has the AAX license? I don't have that level of license so can't test it out myself.

This is one of the reasons I use what I call a "master assembly" to drive top-down designs. The skeleton capability is kind of a "would be nice", but not really justifiable in terms of the cost for us. I make all the defining sketches, pull all the needed surfaces, etc. into the master assembly and then use that stuff to define all the component parts in the design assemblies.

We had a division we worked with who had an AAX license, but it was more a pain than anything else for the aforementioned reasons - inability to modify the skeleton, etc.
