Question

Anyone using RSDlite for 2D schematics?

Currently our wiring diagrams our done in a separate 2D CAD program. I doubt we would ever use the full funtionality of RSD and linking schematics to 3D models. Just need to create simple 2D schematics. Was wanting to get a feel if anyone else is doing this and what the learning curve is to using this software.

Steep. Don't do it unless you need to drive 3D models!

If you already have a license of RSDlite, I recommend you upgrade your license pack so that you can download Creo Schematics 1.0.

When you start Creo Schematics select the get started tab and click on Tutorial. The tutorial will teach you how to create wiring diagrams, create catalog symbols and setup the working environment.









PTC have invested heavily in improving the usability of schematic design and with Creo Schematics the learning curve should reduced when compared to previous release of Routed Systems Designer. If you decide to get started with Routed Systems Designer you will not benefit from

· Enhanced Usability

o Ribbon UI

o Pre-Selection highlighting

§

o Drag handles

§

o Sheet tabs

§

o Embedded parameters

§

· Improved Interoperability

o Import PCB signal information

§

o Import ad-hoc port information from csv

§

o Drive Wildfire 3.0 - 5.0 and Creo 1 cabling and piping design
