AR/ThingWorx changes in Creo 4 M040 - warning

Just wanted to get this out there. There has been a change to how the "Share AR Experience" function works in Creo 4 - M040.

In M030 and earlier you placed a ThingMark in your model and then accessed the experience via that ThingMark. This meant you had to send this ThingMark to anyone your wanted to view the experience which could be a downside if you couldn't print or view the mark on a second screen to scan it. However AR tracking via a ThingMark is supported on a very wide list of devices.

In M040 ThingMark Tracking has been replaced by Spatial Tracking, ThingMarks are no longer available in M040. With Spatial Tracking you load the experience via a link, which is easier than having to print and scan the ThingMark. However Spatial Tracking is only supported on a few devices currently, here is the list.

So just a warning if you move to M040 you may not be able to share and AR experiance with ThingMarks anymore. This also means you will not be able to do a true AR experiance where you locate your 3D model relative to a ThingMark placed on an existing object, like showing how an aftermarket accessory looks on a current product.

Other then the device limitations this change is and improvement if you just want to share 3D for a design review or digital showroom. But removes some of the applications possible with a ThingMark.
