Assembling Components by Proximity Snapping

Sorry if my question is too trivial, but has anyone here used the proximity snapping to assemble a part? 

I think it is a very good function, but I could not use it (I tried to change the options in File -> Option -> Assembly).

If you can use it, could you please show some screenshots or screen record? I did some research but there is almost nothing on the internet.
