Blank/Unblank feature components not working

I'm working with Creo Parametric 6.0 and I am trying to blank out components in my drawing but I am unable to select the desired component. When I try to unblank components the same component becomes visible regardless of which component I try to select but disappears when I select OK. This happens regardless of which drawing view I try to work with. I am at a loss here, can someone think of anything I should try?
