Hey all,

I'm making a new post here for Creo 7.0.4.0 wondering if this has changed.

Has anyone had trouble in newer versions of Creo removing family table links especially in drawings?

I'm attempting the method "temporary family table to replace a drawing model" and the drawing will not release the tie to the family table. https://community.ptc.com/t5/3D-Part-Assembly-Design/Replacing-Model-in-Drawing/td-p/421341

Procedure

  1. Open drawing
  2. Open PRT
  3. Add Fam Tab INST1
  4. Drawing replace model
  5. Delete entire Fam Tab
  6. Confirm drawing model is 1INST and not 1INST<1GEN>
  7. Save and erase
  8. Open drawing and get the error

Error when retrieving drawing:

Another model with the same name already exists.
'1INST<1GEN>' cannot be retrieved.
Model 1INST<1GEN>.PRT could not be retrieved.
'C:\_\1GEN.drw.5' cannot be retrieved.
'1GEN' cannot be retrieved.

I resolved this with adding step

6.1 Remove 1GEN model from drawing

6.2 Save a copy of 1GEN.DRW to 1INST.DRW
