Question

Can Pro/E find the centroid of a cut?

I made a cut through an irregular IGS model as seen in the attached picture. Can pro/E create a curve around that edge (selected in RED) and then calculate it's centroid? I'd like to put a point at this centroid.

i'd like to make 2 x-sections, then create a point through their respective centroids, and connect these 2 points with an axis. I'm not sure if x-section analysis can do that.

I think that if you measure of the area of the face you can get the
centroid as a co-ord system added. But I think you need BMX, or similar
analysis extension.

I do know that if you check: Analysis/Model/X-section mass properties;
you will get the area of the face that is cut by a specified plane, and
a center of mass (centroid?) of the face.

This is in WF 5, I think WF 4 has the same properties.

You can do a cross sectional analysis. In WF5 this is under:
Analysis | Model | X-Section Mass Properties
You can then select a Plane or a Cross Section.
