Can you copy and paste settings for a hole and insert them into another hole?

I often have the situation where I need the same settings for a hole (diameter, counterbore) and use them for another hole in the same part. I have seen that in creo there is the option to copy and paste construction elements such as holes, profiles etc., so is there maybe an option to copy and paste the settings for a hole that I already used, or do you have to set up diameter, depth, counterbore etc. each time that you are creating a new hole?

    You need to optimize your interaction with Creo and re-use the settings of a hole already created in a model. 

     

    To add up to the previous replies, depending on the level of re-use different strategies apply.

     

    If the hole settings can remain in the model then a copy and paste will do the trick. When pasting Creo will ask the placement of the new hole.

    If the hole settings are to be spread on different models and have to be shared between sessions, then User Defined Features (UDF) is the way to go. Also know that UDFs can include Variable Elements, Dimensions, Parameters and Dimension Values meaning that certain settings of the feature can still be altered right before application.

    You can copy and paste the feature which will include the hole note. You can also pattern a hole feature. You could also create a UDF for a specific hole design. Any of these options will save you the time of repeating creation of the feature.

     

    For copy/paste, use the paste special option to place the feature(s) while selecting the references used to place and orient.

     

    Note that you can copy from one model and paste into another model as well.

      Hi,

      Creo enables you to copy whole features only. It is not able to "remember the settings" of previously created hole and use it for next hole.

      You can copy features inside current model -OR- between different models. This you can create "library" model and put all hole types you use in it. Then you can copy these holes from "library" model to real model.

          Hi   everyone 

          @AB_10071442I think this is a very valid question and the good responses outlined the current Creo capabilities to address the above need.

          In addition we are currently researching whether we should introduce the notion of  hole (and other?) feature favorites where you could capture and re-use a number of hole feature options, settings, dimensions etc.

          If you would be interested in that, I would recommend to create a product idea on "feature favorites" and let other people comment and vote on it.

          That would probably also be a good thread to discuss related requirements.
