Cannot rename a group or feature.

Hey All,

I am stuck, trying to rename some groups in my assembly file but it does not let me. Usually I can just right click, then click rename, or I can slow double click and it will let me rename a group or feature.

I created a datum plane to just test it, and again cannot rename that through those means. But if I edit the plane and use the toolbox where it lets you name it, that works.

So dont really know what is going wrong with the naming feature. I have restarted CREO multiple times and its been the same for a few days now.

Anyone else run into this?

Is it all features that do this or specific to this assembly? IE if you create a new part does this still happen?

If it happens for everything I would suspect a graphics card issue.

If its specific for that assembly then its possible there is a corruption issue.

Can you rename with File-> Prepare -> model properties -> Names?

It was just in this specific assembly, if I make another random part it can be renamed like normal.

The file -> prepare -> model properties -> name method did work though! Always seems to be like 3 different ways to do everything, I just did not know about this method.

Still confusing why the assembly is being weird, but I can rename stuff for now I guess.

I've seen these types of things happen when I am on the brink of having a crash - usually I suspect it's because of keeping my session going for too long or loading in too many models with all sorts of version histories and the like. I think Creo has some sort of "memory not being released" problem that causes it to keep taking more and more memory until it finally dies. Many times it starts to act really weird, like refusing to do simple things, like renaming, that are usually simple operations.

Often when I see this kind of thing starting to happen, I'm quick to save then get out of Creo, restart, and see if the bad behavior continues. It usually doesn't repeat, and I'm always glad to have avoided a crash.
