Check if a part is used in Simulate

Hi 


Is there any option to check if a model has been used in Simulate?

 

I could think of a parameter or an icon (like if Mathcad is embedded) or similar.

 

Background: We use ModelCHECK to check for weak dimensions in sketches. Eventually we found weak dimensions in sketches of surfaces splits within Simulate. Currently it seems one has to switch to Simulate to check for non-compliant features.

Thanks for raising awareness.

I send the same question to your PTC support partner (Inneo Solutions GmbH). They didn't find any solution on their side. They confirmed, that there is not even a hidden parameter available.

This might explain why there is no answer here as well.

 

Still hoping for a good answer.

    Hi @Ziegi 

     

    I have not found any documentation in our knowledgebase confirming any parameter or visible identifier within Creo Parametric either.

     

    I created a very simple test where I created a new part in Creo Parametric and saved > prt0001.prt.1 then selected Applications > Simulate and saved again > prt0001.prt.2 then used a file comparison tool.  The tool found that prt0001.prt.2 had some additional segments with the term Mechanica or MechanicaData.

    This suggests that if the file has been used in Creo Simulate and saved, the file itself would show some evidence.

      That is an interesting thought. The data is definitely in the file. 

      As stated in the opening post the ID 380 cannot be found in Creo directly. Neither in the Navigator, no via Search Tool (max ID 367)

      Using a text editor I can confirm that the ID exists

      Switching to Simulate, the Search Tool shows more available IDs (max ID 381)

      Learnings:

      • The data is in the file (everything else would be very surprising)
      • Simulate features cannot be found via the Search Tool in Creo (not Simulate) or via a parameter
      • Switch to Simulate and use Search Tool to find features seems to best available option if they are reported by ModelCHECK, but cannot be found in Creo

      Oh!

       

      The Divide Surface dimensions can be found using the Search Tool in Creo Parametric if searching for Driving Dimensions, ID is equal to 28.

      This is going to find that d28 is related to a Divide Surface feature in the found results but since this feature is still unavailable in Creo Parametric, adding it to the Selected side of the Search tool is not going to add it to the selected, but there is not much, if anything, that can be done with this Creo Simulate feature in Creo Parametric
