Question

Creo Direct Modeling 17.0: Is there a way to export a model directly from Model Manager as a STEP file without having to open it first?

I am pretty bad at Creo and was wondering if it is possible.  I would prefer not to open a large model just to export it for another client to use in other CAD package (we send as STEP).  Thank you.

Hello Casey,

Not directly from Model Manager without having a Task Agent Job setup to do the exporting, which is essentially the same thing you would do manually using Modeling but just done in the background. Talk to your Model Manager administrator to see if this can be configured and setup.

Any type of data conversion always requires CAD (e.g. CED Modeling)

Model Manager is managing the Files and Meta Data, but there is *no* possibility to convert any data (neither CAD-data nor other).

As Thom mentioned, you have the possibily to use Task Agent (or other solutions) to run Modeling in the Background ("batch job")

to do the conversion.
