Question

Creo Parametric 3.0 Setup.exe Does Not Launch on Windows 11

The installation media contains the following installers:

  • setup.exe
  • setup-schools.exe
  • setup-trial.exe

When I double-click setup.exe, absolutely nothing happens:

  • No installation window appears
  • No error message is displayed
  • No process remains running in Task Manager
  • Running as Administrator does not help
  • Windows compatibility mode does not help

However:

  • setup-schools.exe launches successfully
  • setup-trial.exe launches successfully

Only the main setup.exe fails to start.

Additional Information

  • The installation media is readable.
  • installmgr.dll exists in the installation directory.
  • Windows 11 detects the files normally.
  • Creo 3.0 was previously installed on this computer.
  • The issue occurs before the actual installation process begins.

Questions

  1. Is setup.exe known to have compatibility issues with Windows 11?
  2. Does setup.exe require additional components that may not exist in modern Windows versions?
  3. Is there a supported method to bypass setup.exe and install Creo Parametric 3.0 directly?
  4. Are there any logs that can be used to determine why setup.exe immediately exits without displaying an error?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi @ptc-5045694

Creo 3.0 is not compatible with Windows 11. It is supported to work with Creo Parametric from Creo 7.0.8.0 and later.

For more information you can refer article CS348041

Though Creo 3.0 is not compatible with Windows 11. You may try below steps to execute setup.exe:

  • Try placing the installation files in temp directory under C:\, if currently placed under Downloads or documents
  • Try downgrading the User Account control settings to Never Notify
  • Disable Anti-Virus.

I hope this will help.

Thanks
