Creo student and commercial license

Hello, 

I know this has been discussed before but Iā€™m hoping maybe someone can help me with my specific situation. I started working for my organization as an intern while in college, they happened to us Creo so naturally I downloaded a student version of Creo to work on projects. What came from my work as an intern was a product design that we submitted a patent for, it took a couple of years until they finally reached back out to me (I am now a full time employee with a fully licensed Creo 7 software) and they want to get more images and cross sections of the design. So we were able to find the designs however, it was from the student license and I am unable to open them. Is there any way that I can work around this problem just to pull up the designs? Or is there a way I can send these files to PTC to have them converted for me to work with this license?

Can you do a neutral file export from the student version and import it into the commercial version? What about STEP or IGES files?

PTC should be able to do the conversion, but not sure they will. There was at one time a converter for the academic licensed files to be converted, but I don't think those are the same as the student version.

Many, many years ago, as a student, I did a project for a company as a design project, using a student license. They bought a educational to commercial converter from PTC. So the answer is, your creo software administrator will have to contact PTC for this. 

 

Funny story about this project, I was an under-grad student, I paid to "take the class" as credit for a design course and I had to write a paper along with doing the work. There were 3 graduate students who also worked on the project who were paid by the university as part of their graduate work-study program, they were only allowed to work on it 20 hours a week. I had to do a lot to make that grade!

    My first exposure to CAD was in 1977 on an Applicon 880 3D wireframe system on a DEC PDP-11/34 with a light pen and tablet for commands. The school had 1 terminal and we had to schedule our 2 hour blocks at all hours of the day and night. We were allowed 4 hours a week in 2 sessions. Many times I pulled the 6AM time block.
